About Us
We all have a stake in protecting Central Africa’s Congo Basin rainforest, which is second in size only to the Amazon and provides environmental benefits to all of humanity. Over half the remaining Congo Basin rainforest is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Located in the heart of the Congo Basin rainforest, Tshuapa Province, DRC, is a remote and impoverished region that encompasses vast swaths of intact rainforest and all or part of five nature reserves. Congo Education Partners (CEP) was established in 2013 to build the capacity of Djolu Technical College (DTC), the only accredited technical college in Tshuapa Province. CEP supports the College’s vision of serving as a regional center for excellence in education, research, training and community outreach in sustainable agriculture, forest conservation, and nursing and public health. |

CEP is headquartered in North Carolina's Research Triangle, USA, and works in partnership with Vie Sauvage, the Congolese nongovernmental organization that founded and oversees Djolu Technical College.
CEP focuses on supporting, advising, and advocating for Djolu Technical College. We have supported the construction and rehabilitation of College buildings including classrooms and a computer center. We have provided scholarships to women students, and funded DTC faculty salaries and scholarships for DTC instructors to obtain advanced scientific training. We have built the capacity of the College’s agricultural extension program, which has become a hub for agricultural research and training and outreach to local communities.
Our plans for the near future include funding solar power for the College’s computer center, helping grow classroom capacity from 100 to 400 students annually, and continuing to work with Djolu Technical College to improve people’s lives while helping protect rainforest and wildlife.

Our Heroes: The Students and Faculty
Despite the constraints of working in one of the most remote and impoverished places on the planet, the dedicated professors at Djolu Technical College are training young people to become professionals, leaders, and active stewards of the rainforest.

I'm studying at Djolu Technical College to better understand the connection between population problems, management of natural resources, and rural development. Here we benefit from good quality teachers. Our teachers are very skillful in their fields.”
